(Sigh)…..I’m really torn about this one….
To be honest, I haven’t had the pleasure of reading Renee Rose. In fact, one of the reasons I was interested in this book was because Vanessa Vale was a co-author and I love her books. But fair warning for those of you doing the same thing as me….it’s not the same and don’t pick this up thinking you’re getting a Vanessa Vale story, this is…different.
Do you like PNR’s? Then you might like this one. Especially since this is a mix between paranormal and hot as sin cowboys. Just note that it’s more cowboy than paranormal though. We don’t really get to experience the shifting until late in the book.
Audrey is a doctor who just moved in to the area. She works at the local hospital, but as an OBGYN. When she’s called to fill in for a co-worker at the local rodeo, she doesn’t hesitate, even though it’s not her “expertise”. I mean, who wouldn’t want to hang around hot cowboys, right? But the event takes a different turn when the hottest cowboy ever suffers a life changing injury. At least, it’s supposed to be a life changing injury. What the heck is going on?
Boyd Wolf is a champion bull rider. He’s good at what he does, sexy as hell and cocky to boot. But he soon realizes that his man whoring days may be numbered the second he lays eyes on the new doc. Too bad his concentration slipped, because he’s now gorged by the same bull he’s riding, trying to impress her. Way to go hot shot.
This book had so much potential for me. The premise was great and who doesn’t love a good cat and mouse game. But it didn’t flow for me. I don’t know if it’s because it was written by two authors, therefore mixing the “style” of writing, or if it was just me. Either way, I found myself skimming sections, just to “get to the good stuff”.
That being said, there was obviously SOMETHING there because I’m actually looking forward to the next book in the series. I mean…this was only the first Wolf after all…
