Renee’s Four Star Review
Richard Sisk has never been much of a risk taker. At seventeen he met a woman, who would make him give up his dreams for the future. Doing the right thing he marries his pregnant long time hookup. Over the years, things change, and he receives a divorce as his birthday present.
Jill Caldwell has spent the last eight years caring for her younger brother. She has been being both is older sister and parents. Now that he is settled well into college, she finally has the gift of freedom.. Jill knows that together she and Richard can build a life of everything they ever wanted; that is if he can get over being her sliver fox.
I really enjoyed this story. Being older myself, I really love to see older characters in books and Richard fits that part perfectly. He is such a good man. He married his high school girlfriend after she got pregnant and they built a life together. A life that is over and ends in divorce when he and his wife grow apart. He was so determined to make this relationship work, but now it is time to move on but his sure isn’t looking to hop right back into another serious life consuming relationship. When he meets Jillian he wants her right away but he can tell that there is a pretty big age difference between them. Richard is in his forties and Jillian in her twenties. Though Jillian had to grow up quickly when she lost her parents at the age of seventeen and began raising her younger brother. She didn’t get to go to college and she sure didn’t get to experience the things that most teenagers do. However, she would do it all over again if she had to. She has not one regret and is so proud of her brother who has now gone off to college and for the first time in years Jillian is on her own. Free to do anything in the world that she wants to do. This leads to a night at a club and her rescuing Richard from unwanted attention of another female. While Jillian knows that she wants Richard she can so tell that he is fighting his attraction to her and this leads to the rest of the story that your not getting from me. You have to pick up the book and read it. I really enjoyed this story. The push and the pull. Fighting what you feel is a huge age difference but knowing that it is the one thing in the world that can make you the happiest. Misha Elliott has written a sweet love story that will leave you closing the book with a big old smile on your face.
