A monstrous fate will turn a girl into a legend.
On an island in Lake Obersee, where The Sisters of St. Gertrude abide, a destitute Moor named Durra arrives. Sold for taxes, she and her two companions tend to the nuns and their collection of cats. At night, she combs the library for details on the order, the remote island, and the beasts howling outside her window.
But when a prank reveals the sisters’ gruesome secret, Durra is forced to accept a new fate. Bestowed an unearthly power, she must choose between life as a nun or living among the monsters beyond the convent walls.
Her path is about to change the tide in the ultimate war. The war between good and evil.
Stephanie’s 3 Star Review:
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
Sisters of the Moon is a young adult novel with some fright, paranormal, and historical elements added to the book. The focus is mainly on a young woman named Durra. She hand two other girls have been sold and are being taken to a convent. Durra is a rarity in her day as she is dark skinned and was taught to read. Her caucasian counterparts were never taught to read only how they can use their bodies to keep themselves safe from their Masters.
Arriving on the island they will next inhabitants Durra notices some strange werewoves along the path to the convent. Which she thinks is strange but doesn’t have time to explore or check them out.
The girls are weary of the nuns in the convent. As I’m sure anyone would be…being brought to a new place where you’re not sure what type of abuse you’ll be subject to next. The Reverend Mother seems to be on the up and up but there’s just something off about this place.
You will be on the edge of your seat reading this short novel. There’s quite a few things playing into this story and you’ll sure to be caught in the snare. Reader beware…there’s just something about this place…
