Blurb:

Heavy is the head that inherits the crown.

The only thing on Daire Archer’s mind when she pulled a disappearing act on Christmas was proving she was worthy of being her father’s daughter. She was born an Archer, which was a blessing and a curse, and Daire was determined to show everyone she deserved to carry the legacy that came with her name.

There is power in a name, and being an Archer meant Daire needed to do better, to be better. At least, that’s what she thought she needed, until a boy from nowhere—with a name that meant nothing—showed her that she was already pretty great just the way she was.

Campbell has always rejected everything concerning his maniacal father and his troubled past. When he left Nowhere, he was certain he wanted a nice, quiet life free from the only things he’d ever known: violence and bloodshed. He thought he needed to be a better man. He wondered if there was a kinder, gentler version of himself under his thick armor of scars and tattoos.

It wasn’t until he started chasing Daire Archer all over hell and back that Campbell realized he needed to be a man who was better at being bad than everyone else in his troubled world.

Because now, he had a problematic princess to protect. One with an uncanny ability for finding trouble. Where Daire is concerned, being a good guy isn’t necessary.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Daire was born an Archer. A name that carries a lot of weight. She knows that she has to know better, do better and be better. She is determined to show her father that she is worthy of wearing the crown of being her father’s daughter. He name is both a blessing and a curse and is the reason she disappears one Christmas. To prove that she is worthy. However she never in a million years expected to meet a boy who is from nowhere yet turns her world upside down. Campbell though has a maniacal father and a very troubled past. But when he meets Daire he knows that he has found someone really great, even if she is out to prove her worth. She’s perfect as she is. When he had left Nowhere he was certain that he wanted a quiet life away from the madness that he has always been in. He is tired of the violence and bloodshed. He thinks he needs to be a better man. However with the chase for Daire taking him all over the place he realizes that maybe he needs to be a man who is better at being bad, and so much better at it than any man in his world. He never thought he would have his hands full chasing a princess but he is going to protect her with everything in him. However, to Diare Campbell being a good guy doesn’t matter to her one bit.
These two do not seem like a match at all. But they really are. They have some amazing interactions together and really accept each other for who they really are. They are actually really swoon worthy because I think every girl wants to be felt about like Campbell feels about Daire. This was a really great story and one that you do not want to miss.
