Blurb: MERCY Neglecting my duty to serve is a sin, and during the last full moon, I became a sinner. He saw me run from my duty, chased me, and caught me. He promised me that I would be punished. But I never could have imagined the hellish fate that would be chosen for me. More than that, I never could have imagined the maddening lust that would spark between me and the man who caught me. This passion is forbidden…and it might set us on fire. ARLO It’s my role to catch the sinners, and Mercy sinned gravely. I saw her and I chased her, drawn to her inexplicably. She sparked something within me, but she had to be brought to judgment. Her punishment is coming in the form of an archaic ritual we’re bringing back to make an example of her. I’ll be her warden, her keeper, the man to ensure she stays alive between her tortuous trials. Something within her brings out the worst of me…and the worst of me wants to ruin her. This is a dark romance series. You can find a list of tropes & triggers at www.brynnford.com/triggers.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

When I first heard of what this book was about I was super excited. Then I learned it was a dystopian book and I was all over that. If you ask me there are not enough dystopian books in the world. I was so excited to have this book in my hands after months of waiting. Spark of Madness did not disappoint at all and I didn’t get all excited for nothing. I hate when that happens and what your so excited for is just not as great as you thought it would be.
Spark of Madness is a dark book that will push your boundaries and you need to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It will contain triggers for some readers. You will want to take those warnings seriously.
This is the story of Mercy Madness. I know, really cool name right. She has grown up as far as I could tell in what I can best describe as a cult. That’s just how it felt to me but it may be that the entire world lives like this now since this is a dystopian romance. The girls of the village are given the high honor of being chosen to be a a girl of service to the men of the village as on the full moon they have the ability to chose one of the girls to purge their desires with and then do it all over again the next full moon. This is done to keep down the urges of men and keep everyone happy but my poor heart shattered for those girls. Then I would have to remember if this is all you have ever known and it is your way of getting to heaven then you will do what your told and not say a word. However on the night of a purge she is saved form this horrible man by another but when he sees she is alone he is coming for her after the horrific things Mercy has just witnessed him two three second before. Running is not an option and she knows it but that doesn’t stop her at all. Soon she finds herself caught and the future she thought she knew is now suddenly not clear at all. I loved Mercy she is a girl who really thinks and questions the way things are and not just follow alone because that is how it is. They may all think she is a little crazy but I thought she was amazing and strong and just maybe a little to curious for her own good. Things are about to get serious for Mercy and I think I held my breath ninety percent of the time reading this book. It is wide open from the moment you pick it up till you close it maybe even yelling NO as you do!!!! There are so many things that I wanna say about this book but I can’t. It would be way to easy to spoil something and that is not a good thing to do. I loved every second and I will be waiting for the second book on the edge of my seat and not so patiently.

About the Author: Brynn Ford is an author of dark and dirty romance for daring readers. She is a lover of the dark, twisted, and playful and strives to bring the unmentionable aspects of passionate romance into her stories.   Brynn lives in the Midwestern United States with her husband and sons, whom she expects will someday be embarrassed by their mom’s books. When she isn’t obsessively writing, you may find her binge watching favorite shows while eating far too much junk food or fanatically reading, always seeking to lose herself in the emotional roller coaster of a damn good story.   She is quite the idealist despite her fascination with the wicked and warped aspects of humanity. She’s a firm believer that her characters continue to live on outside the pages in the minds of her readers. Stories don’t just end because there aren’t any more pages to turn.
