While I read almost 150 books in 2019 I only gave out 5 stars to two books. I’ll give you more detail about these books in this post.

My #1 read for 2019 is Beautifully Broken Spirit by Catherine Cowles.

Beautifully Broken Spirit is the third book in the Sutter Lake series by Catherine Cowles.  I’ve enjoyed this series about a small town where the 20-somethings are finding their way and the loves of their lives.  There’s much more going on than that though.

In Spirit Ms. Cowles takes us on a journey with a woman who’s picked some not so decent men to give her heart/body to up to the point of the book.  She’s questioned her judgement and has sworn off men because she can’t trust herself to make the right choice.

I won’t spoil this book for you with this run down.  Let’s just say she’s been put through the ringer and she needs to be strong for herself and her son.  All the while the perfect match for her has always been in her life and protected her from the first moment he laid eyes on her when she came home from the hospital.

Their love story starts off challenging but ends in a beautiful happy ever after.  I love when a story gives you all the feels and you’re rooting for the couple 100%!  Thus why this book is my #1 for 2019.

What a great way to start the new year with a new favorite couple? If you’d like to read my review I wrote for this books release – you can find it on GoodReads here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3009397945 and also on this website.

Consume Me by Geneva Lee is my #2 book for 2019.

Consume Me is the third book in the Royal World Series by Geneva Lee.  You must read the other two books prior to this one.  If you follow my ratings on GoodReads or this site you’ll know that the first two books in the series I rated three stars.  Consume Me, however, blew the others out of the park.

This royal series features a new king and queen getting their footing in their unexpected rolls.  Sure they knew they’d be in charge one day but didn’t expect it so soon.  Murder and conspiracy will do that, ya know.

This third book answers all the questions you may have after reading the other two.  It will definitely have you on the on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

Will you be able to spot the trader in the mix?   Oh the drama…and the angst!

I love a story with more angst than drama.  Ms. Lee has definitely pulled that off in this edition of the Royal World.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  You can find my review to this book on GoodReads here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2869396359.  You can also find the review on this website.

I have a lot of 4 star books this year. Many of them were good books. I’m disappointed that more of them didn’t make it into the 5 star category – for me. If a book doesn’t move me in some major way then it’s not making it to the big FIVE. That’s my personal choice as a reviewer.

There was one year I had 75 five star books but couldn’t remember much about any of them. I decided at the end of that year I would tighten my belt when it came to the top tier. So here you go TWO books received top stars from me in 2019.

Here’s to hoping 2020 will have many more!

What’s your year end star chart look like?
