That’s right…I am! I’ve only written two things in it too. The Dedication and Acknowledgements. 🙂
Most of you have been following Stephanie’s Book Reports long enough to know that I was one of the co-founders of Authors in the City book signing and we are the host blog, of course. This summer I asked our signing authors if any of them would be interested in writing novellas for a Christmas Anthology.
We have 15 authors that participated, two of them co-wrote so we have 14 stories in the Anthology. It’s called Christmas in the City (CITC.) It’s published by Authors in the City…which really means me. HA!
What’s special about CITC is it’s a charitable Anthology. The proceeds from the book will be given to a charity in the Orlando, FL area associated with a children’s hospital there. We will present the check between the dinner and after party portion of the 2016 Authors in the City signing. The charity has asked us not to name them in our marketing efforts as it’s a children’s charity and we have adult content in the book. Understandable.
So here’s a few things I’ve learned a long this process…
- These authors have big hearts. Many of them wrote this along with ones they were already working on for their publication schedule.
- If you direct them it’s much easier. Just say here’s what I need and wham it’s done.
- Always have more than one eye look everything over. Something will always be spelled wrong, misplaced, something extra added.
- Formatting is a pain in the butt!!! You can look at a formatted Word document wrong and it’ll screw up the whole thing. I’ve always heard how gentle you have to be with them…but goodness it’s like the thing has a mind of it’s own!
I’m pretty sure we will do this again for each annual Authors in the City. Charities will likely change though…maybe. We’ll see.
So would you like to know more about Christmas in the City? Here’s the cover and a brief synopsis of the book. You’ll get full details on Monday when it officially releases. Any shares of this post of the book are appreciated.
Here’s a video of me (Stephanie) explaining why you should add Christmas in the City to your ereader:
