This is the story of Whitley and Pope. It is also a small town second chance romance. This is a baseball story too. Pope is a first baseman in the major leagues playing in New York. It has been a long time since he has gone home but that is exactly where he is headed now that it is the off season. When he left he left behind his best friend Whitley. The girl he has always loved. Now he comes back and she is a single mother and engaged to be married. However when he left she had begged him not to leave her a virgin and he obliged. Now she has a four year old little girl. There is just not a possible way that that beautiful little girl is not his. After all Nora’s birth certificate names him as the father. But secrets are being kept. Now though since there was a huge fight between her and the lawyer she was engaged too, she and Pope are getting closer. She has big problems and marrying Pope is the best thing she can do since the man who thinks he is the father is threatening to take her away. Will he take her up on her offer? If she does will they be a forever kind of thing? You have to read to find out. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was actually a lot of fun to read.
