Renee’s Five Star Review
Isabella is a girl who loves books. It is her escape because she is scarred and timid. Books are her only escape in life since she has lived a very sheltered life hidden away from society she now finds herself thrown into the world of the mafia. An organization she has only ever read about in books. She is about to learn a lot more than she ever imagined because she is trapped with the capo. Rafael Corsetti finds himself drawn to and wanting to protect Isabella. She has some really strange scars and an even stranger history. She just might be the key to ensure his family’s safety while finding their enemy. Isabella though can’t stand him and it quickly turns to hate as the facts unfold and not in her favor. He might want her for himself and show her that there is way more to live than what she thought. But can she overcome her hatred and let him in?
You have to read to find out. This book hooks you from the first pages and you will not put it down. I loved everything about this book and it is certainly my favorite in the series so far.

The fact he invited himself to lounge on my bed is annoying. I mean, who does that? Weโre strangers, but okay. Then to watch me pack with that intense, probing gaze, like heโs trying to figure me out, is also irksome. A lot of effort was spent in pretending to ignore him.ย
I get the sense that Rafael Corsetti is not a man easily ignored.ย
For one, inquiring about my books and my Kindle shows some level of curiosity. If he wasnโt interested, he wouldnโt care about the answer, which is more than I can say for others in my life, like Gage.
Once Iโm done packing, Iโm sure heโll expect me to blindly follow along. I might have been raised as a recluse, without the influences of society, but Dad always taught me to protect myselfโphysically and emotionally.ย
My throat feels thicker just imagining the number of times Dad instilled random lessons in me. Stuff I barely understood the meaning of at the time, and maybe still donโt.ย
Donโt let people close to you. It only hurts more.ย
Donโt talk to strangers and if anyone inquiries about your childhood, run away.
Donโt trust anyone besides me. Iโm the only one who has your best interests at heart.
And here I am, somehow finding myself having to trust a stranger. Worseโa stranger whoโs a part of the life my father hid from me. Not sure if that says something bad about me or him.
