Book Description:

The wall between our world and that of vengeful spirits has protected humanity for more than 400 years. It’s about to come crashing down.
Ellie Lancaster has lived her whole life by the site of the mysterious Lost Colony of Roanoke, the Virginia settlement that vanished without a trace around 1590. Only the descendants of the two men who banished the spirits of an enemy tribe from the material realm know what really happened to the colony. Ellie is one of those descendants—a Curse Keeper. Her father took pains to teach her what he knew of the curse and the responsibilities of its guardians. He taught her that if the two Curse Keepers ever meet, the curse will be lifted, the gate will open, and the raging Native American spirits will be unleashed to seek their revenge.

Despite her father’s seriousness, Ellie has always taken the legend for a harmless fairy tale. Until she meets the darkly handsome, but downright infuriating, Collin Dailey and realizes everything she was told is true. For when they meet, it’s like the air is sucked from the room. Collin’s presence is electrifying… and it’s not just attraction Ellie feels, but the inexorable pull toward her destiny. The prophecy is real, and now Ellie and Collin must battle supernatural forces and their loathing—and passion—for each other to set things right.

The Curse Keepers are all that stand between the world and its destruction.

Stephanie’s 5 Star Review:

If you’ve followed SBR for the last year you know I’m a BIG Paranormal Romance reader.  I am very picky about PNR reads as some just don’t hit the mark.  The Curse Keepers hit it, and surpassed it.  I absolutely LOVED this book.  I had seen it posted a few times on my friends blogs and looked at it a time or two on Amazon but just didn’t take the plunge.  The second book in this series was just published and I thought I’ll try it.  I’m so glad I did!  This story is awesome!

As a native North Carolinian I appreciate the historical reminders in this story.  The Lost Colony is almost like a fairy tale.  Native American woman falling for the European guy but the entire colony disappears?  Someone had to remain behind that knew of it’s existence to be able to tale the tales I suppose.  Anyway, The Lost Colony is/was in Manteo, NC.  Ellie Lancaster has never left the area for long as she’s always gotten sick and strong anxiety leaving her home town.  She works two jobs, one as a waitress and the other helping around the Bed & Breakfast her Dad and Step-mom run.

One day she’s about to finish her shift in walks a man who takes her breath away.  She’s having a panic attack in the restaurant.  She wants desperately to be in his space and run from him at the same time.  She’s forced to be in his space as he’s ready to leave the restaurant.  When he touches her…her whole life changes.

This is where all the good stuff happens.  Ellie & Collin are Keepers of the Curse placed on The Lost Colony along with some gods and demons keeping them locked up for 400 years.  It’s their job to make sure the gate stays shut.  From that first day they’re connected.  Forced to spend time together.  Six days is all they get to close the gate and make sure the spirits stay where they were.

Six days to learn enough about each other to develop feelings, to care, to destroy.  Collin’s mantra their entire six days is for Ellie not to trust him.

I don’t want to give away any more of this story.  It’s quite thrilling and just phenomenal.  The story flows and I couldn’t stand to put it down and looked forward to picking it back up as soon as I could.  I absolutely LOVED it.  Did I say that already?  LOVED it!  I’m looking forward to reading The Curse Breakers, book two in The Curse Keepers Series!
