I will protect and own her.

The Ritual, an all-new dark college romance by USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Shantel Tessier is available now!

The Chosen One I vow. You vow. We vow. Barrington University is home of the Lords, a secret society that requires their blood in payment. They are above all—the most powerful men in the world. They devote their lives to violence in exchange for power. And during their senior year, they are offered a chosen one. People think growing up with money is freeing, but I promise you, it’s not. My entire life has been planned out for me. I never got the chance to do what I wanted until Ryat Alexander Archer came along and gave me an option for a better life. He offered me what no one else ever had—freedom. I chose to be his. He made me believe that anyway, but it was just another lie. A way that the Lords manipulate you into doing what they want. After being sucked into the dark, twisted world of the Lords, I embraced my new role and allowed Ryat to parade me around like the trophy I was to him. But like all things, what started out as a game soon became a fight for survival. And the only way out was death.

Renee’s Five Star Review I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
This is a dark standalone from Shantel Tessier. You need to heed the author’s notes in the beginning of the book. This book will contain some triggers for some readers. This is the story of Ryat and Blakely. Ryat is spending his college years living his life for the LORDS. You have rules you have to follow and you better not break them or that would lead to death. You do as you’re told, ask no questions and then you get the girl. The Chosen One. But even the older Lords pick out that girl too. Blakely is a sweet college girl who has a boyfriend Matt, who is one of the Lords too but they don’t exactly have the best relationship in the world. He is keeping major secrets and that is all about to explode in his face. But according to her mom and dad and his parent she is going to marry Matt no matter what. However one day Ryat is shown a picture of a girl who turns out to be Blakely and he is told that she has to be his Chosen One and to make it happen no matter what. One party and then one vow changes everything and that is all you are getting out of me. I really loved this book. It had me turning the pages as fast as I could to know what exactly was going on and what was going to happen. It’s dirty and twisted and such a great read.
