CHRISTINA’S FIVE STAR REVIEW:
Yassss!!! What a perfect combination of emotional roller coaster meeting the edginess we’re all so used to when it comes to Lily White. Once I picked this up, there was no stopping me from finishing it….in one sitting.
Lisbeth is considered a princess. Ok, not necessarily royalty, but since her father is extremely wealthy which brings on servants and all of the lavish things, it’s only fitting. Add in the fact that she acts like one and the shoe absolutely fits. That is until her life is literally turned upside down, changing everything she once knew to be her reality in to a living nightmare. And to say karma isn’t a bitch would be a liar.
Callan Rose wasn’t always a “Rose”. In fact, he was one of the servants who was really more like a boy toy for Lisbeth in her adolescent years. But boy oh boy how the tables have turned. Once he became a Rose, everything changed. And I mean EVERYTHING. No longer the little boy who bowed down, taking orders and abuse, he’s now the head of the house. That’s right. Can you imagine all that built up anger? Maybe that’s why he likes fighting in the pit. What better way to get rid of unwanted energy, right?
This story will take you on a journey, from childhood to adulthood. Through emotions that we feel as kids, to ones we feel as adults. But most importantly, this story will remind all of us how to treat others. Ok, maybe not. But it sounded great!
To say that the relationship between Callan and Lisbeth isn’t toxic is an understatement. It’s explosive. These two have so much history that when the barriers are knocked down, there’s no way they’ll ever go back up. I loved each and every second of this book and was a bit sad when I turned that last page, wanting more.
Renee’s Five Star Review:
Callan Rose. That hadn’t always been his name. When we were children, he was nothing more than a servant boy in my family. He was an amusement to me. A nobody. A weak soul who refused to fight back. It was so easy to take advantage. But when my father died, and I was stolen. The family moved on without me. Until I was penniless with no place to go. I returned to the Rose Estate not knowing Callan was the head of it. He’d hone his body and temper in the underground fighting ring. The scars only made him more beautiful. Now I’m trapped by a seductively dark man who has nothing but vengeance running through his veins. I’d always wanted him to fight back, but you know what they say: Be careful what you wish for.
Oh man you talk about two characters who have a past that no one would want. That is Lisbeth and Callen. You feel like your kindle just might explode from all the angry banter these two have with each other. At one point Lisbeth was the rich spoiled girl who wanted him to fight back, who thought that Callen was a nothing. However when her father dies and she is taken her family moves on without her. Now penniless with no place to go she returns home to find that Callan is not the man in charge and he wants revenge. The boy she wanted to fight back when they were little is now the man that she never thought he would grow up to be. I was sucked into this book and it doesn’t let you put it down until you finish. I don’t want to give anything away. I loved reading this book and you will too.
