Emily

Never enter the mortuary after midnight.

I thought it was superstition.

How could I have known Dad was cremating corpses for a crime lord?

I should’ve listened. Now, it’s too late.

A cold-blooded monster has me in his sights.

My stalker. My captor. My ruin.

I should hate Ruarc for using me to blackmail my father.

But with every rough touch and wicked promise, I lose myself to his dark seduction.

Soon, there won’t be any of me left.

Ruarc

Don’t get involved.

Good advice, especially for someone dealing in secrets and sins.

I lived by that rule since I took the throne.

Until her.

The undertaker never told me he had a daughter.

One with emerald fire in her eyes and enough soul to share.

I decided Emily was mine from that first moment.

Mine to touch. Mine to mold. Mine to break.

And I plan on keeping her.

Renee’s Five Star Reviewย

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Twisted Devotion is a dark read. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book.
Emily is a girl that lives on the property of a mortuary with her father. Together they run the business he mom started from the ground up. She lives in a cabin in the back of the property next to the woods alone but always follows her dads rules to never come after midnight to the mortuary and never go into his office. Ruarc is the king of the throne of his crime syndicate. He owns a club and lives a life where people fear him and he keeps everyone’s dirty little secrets. However after too much wine and a curios bestie Emily does something she has never dared to do in her life. After midnight she goes to the mortuary and finds a man and her father there. This is how these two meet. He tells her he is ghost and from that moment on she feels like she is being watched. I don’t think I can tell you more about the story without giving something away. These two however have some great chemistry. He has a certain taste and shes been reading books about it. All her dreams are about to come true. However Ruarc isn’t a guy who ever sees a woman more than once. But something came over him when he saw Emily for the first time. She brings out things in him that he thought were long dead. Emily is a girl who has lived her entire life in her family home and then the cabin. She doesn’t really do anything but work and go back to her cabin. He shows her things she never could have imagine before. I loved the growth of both these characters in this book. I loved how alpha and protective he was but he also had this side to him that only Emily got to see. She is a fighter he has to tame. I could go on and on about this book. It is certainly one that you do not want to miss.

About Renee Henson

Renee Henson has an obsession with reading and reviewing. Especially anything that is a dark romance, fairy tale retelling, MC, and is trying her best to love the PNR worlds. Nothing is quiet as exciting to her as reading a good book and then talking about it or making comments while reading with her friends that have read the book too. She is always happiest with her kindle in her hand and her nose is a book. She has been reviewing for Stephanie's Book Reports for over ten years.
