Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is a dark romance. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It might contain triggers for some readers. Alexia is about to have to marry one of the Cortez brothers. While this is something she would never in a million year willingly do she doesn’t have a choice. However when businesses need strengthening and the way to do that is marry a Cortez. Lexi is the last person I think she thinks she is going to have to marry and since she considers him a monster. He is controlling and brutal and he certainly makes no apologies for anything he does or the way he is. He is who he is and that is just the way it is. However he is a very loyal man and if you are one of the few people he has chosen and his family then he will protect you at all costs. He makes his brothers look like princes in the way he is compared to them. Lexi is the pawn. It wasn’t suppose to be her that had to marry a Cortez brother. But her father has used her her whole life for his benefit and when it suits him. However because of this she has learned how to play the game and manipulate like a pro and is going to use any of the tools in her box to get some kind of retribution for her brother. However she has met her match and is well outmatched with Abel. When she is acting out horrible it doesn’t even affect him or get to him the way she thought it would. I don’t really want to get in to the details of this book as I am afraid I would say something that would be a spoiler. This is one of those books that keeps you one the edge of your seat a lot of the time and I really loved reading this book.
